Frequently Asked Questions
How is my child matched to a tutor?
Every family can begin with a complimentary 20-minute consultation, allowing us to gain a thorough understanding of your child's academic goals, learning style and longer-term aspirations. Our team then undertakes a careful matching process, drawing on our in-depth knowledge of each tutor's teaching style, subject expertise, personality and mentoring experience to identify the strongest possible fit. Within 1–2 working days of creating your account on our portal, you'll receive a carefully curated shortlist of tutor CVs, each selected specifically for your child's individual needs.
Can I choose my own tutor?
Following your consultation, our team carefully hand-selects a small selection of tutors based not only on their academic credentials, but also on their teaching style, personality, mentoring experience and ability to support your child's specific goals. You'll receive a carefully curated shortlist of options, giving you the confidence to choose the tutor you feel is right for your family, supported by our expert guidance every step of the way. If you have a particular tutor in mind, we’ll always do our best to arrange this, subject to their availability.
Do your tutors specialise in university admissions?
Yes. Many of our tutors are recent graduates from leading universities, giving them first-hand insight into today’s admissions process. We also work with specialist admissions mentors who provide expert guidance on personal statements, admissions tests, and interviews for competitive universities.
Are lessons available online?
Yes. Around 75% of our tuition takes place online, allowing students to work with exceptional tutors from across the UK and beyond. We also offer in-person tuition where location and tutor availability allow.
Can I request a tutor from a particular university?
Absolutely. We work with an exceptional network of tutors from many of the world's leading universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, UCL, LSE and more. If you have a preferred university or academic background in mind, we'll always do our best to match your child with a tutor from that institution, subject to availability.
Do your tutors have teaching experience?
Our team brings together an exceptional mix of specialist teachers and inspiring recent graduates from the UK's leading universities. Every tutor is carefully selected through our rigorous recruitment process for both their academic excellence and their ability to motivate and engage students. Whether your child needs an experienced classroom teacher, or a relatable tutor who has recently navigated the same journey, we'll match them with the tutor best suited to help them succeed.
Do your tutors specialise in specific school entrance exams?
We have an outstanding team of specialist entrance exam tutors with expertise across 7+, 8+, 11+, 13+ and 16+ admissions, including preparation for many of the UK's most competitive independent schools. Our tutors understand not only the academic requirements of each assessment, but also the nuances of individual schools' admissions processes, interview styles and expectations. Many attended these schools themselves, while others have successfully guided numerous students to offers year after year.
Can my child change mentors if needed?
Finding the right mentor is one of the most important factors in a student's success, which is why we take great care with every match and regularly check in with families to ensure the partnership is thriving. While tutor changes are rare thanks to our personalised matching process, if you ever feel a different teaching style or area of expertise would better support your child, we'll personally oversee the transition and carefully recommend an alternative tutor from our team. Our priority is always ensuring your child has the mentor who will help them achieve their full potential.
How quickly can tuition begin?
Following your complimentary consultation, our team will carefully shortlist suitable tutors, send you a selection of tailored recommendations and guide you through every step of the onboarding process. Once you've selected your preferred tutor, you'll have the opportunity to arrange a complimentary 10-minute introductory call before lessons begin. We aim to make the entire process as seamless and efficient as possible, so your child can start benefiting from expert support without unnecessary delay.
What age groups do you support?
We support students at every stage of their educational journey, from primary school through to university and beyond. Our expertise spans 4+, 7+, 8+, 11+, 13+ and 16+ school entrance preparation, GCSEs, IGCSEs, A Levels, IB and university admissions to the UK's most competitive institutions. We also provide specialist support for undergraduate study, postgraduate applications and professional admissions. Whatever your child's age or aspirations, we'll carefully match them with an expert mentor who can help them build confidence, develop academically and achieve their full potential.
Are all of your tutors DBS checked?
Yes. All tutors working with students under 18 are required to hold appropriate safeguarding checks and are carefully vetted before joining our team.
How often should my child have tutoring?
This depends on your child’s goals and timetable. Most students have one session per week, although some increase this during exam periods or while preparing for university admissions tests and interviews.
Will I receive feedback after lessons?
Yes. Following every lesson, parents receive a detailed session report outlining the topics covered, key strengths, areas for development and any recommended next steps or homework. This ensures complete transparency and allows families to track progress over time. Our tutors also adapt future sessions based on each student's development, creating a personalised learning journey that evolves as their confidence, knowledge and goals grow. We believe regular communication between tutors, parents and our team is fundamental to achieving exceptional outcomes.
